Foreclosure Prevention

Foreclosure prevention assists homeowners who are facing the threat of foreclosure due to job loss or other temporary financial hardship, such as a divorce, serious illness, or death of a co-signor.

Foreclosure Prevention (Mortgage Payment Program[MPP]):

  • Have you lost job or become unemployed through no fault of your own?
  • Are you un-employed after a job loss or now on a fixed income earning less money?
  • Have you had a temporary hardship requiring new employment such as divorce or health problems?
  • Are you a returning military veteran looking to retrain and enter a civilian career or new field?

In conjuction with the  (NCHFA) we offer the Mortgage Payment Programs assisting homeowners with mortgage payments during specific hardship situations. The NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund provides mortgage assistance to North Carolina homeowners who are struggling due to job loss or temporary unemployment, reduction of income, or temporary financial hardship, such as divorce, health issues or illness, the death of a spouse or a natural disaster. The Fund also provides counseling and assistance to returning military veterans who are transitioning to civilian jobs.

Services

Our Mortgage Payment Program provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners who are behind or at risk of becoming behind on their mortgage payments. To those who qualify, we can provide zero-interest loans of up to $36,000 to cover mortgage payments and related expenses for up to 36 months while homeowners search for or train for a new job.

We may be able to help in one of three ways:

  • One-time assistance to bring your mortgage current
  • Short-term assistance while you are looking for a job
  • Long-term assistance while you participate in an approved job retraining program

Schedule

Information sessions are typically held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at Triangle Family Services

1. Call to be screened over the phone for the program

2. Eligible homeowners will be invited to attend an information session to receive further details
